SATURDAY 13th November

At 3:00 p.m. GATE – POETRY AND MUSIC OF HUMAN LIFE

Poetry and music performance “Portti” (Gate) was completed at the end of 2020 to mark Pirjo Vahtola’s 70th anniversary. Due to the corona pandemic, its performances have been postponed to the fall of 2021.
Pirjo Vahtola says: “The performance transports participants from the 1950s to the present, from Northern Häme to the Turku region, grows its writer from a girl to a woman, wife, mother and grandmother, from school child to a priest and a poet. Through the experience of one person, the gate performance opens a window to the richness, joy and crying of life. ” All the poems are written by Pirjo and she recites them as well.
The performance is directed by Maaret Perälä. The music is provided by the vocal and instrumental ensemble The Blond Aleksandra, Auni Frantti, Varpu Ruohonen and Lasse Vahtola.
